По оперативным данным объем внешней торговли товарами государств – членов Таможенного союза за январь-июнь 2012 г. составил 459,6 млрд. долларов США, в том числе экспорт – 302,9 млрд. долларов США, импорт – 156,7 млрд. долларов США. Стоимостной объем экспорта по сравнению с январем-июнем 2011 г. в текущих ценах увеличился на 9,7%, или на 26,9 млрд. долларов США, импорта – на 4,8%, или на 7,2 млрд. долларов США.

The meeting touched upon relevant matters of multilateral interaction and the trade and economic agenda. In particular, implementing the Interim Agreement leading to the formation of a free trade area between the Eurasian Economic Union and its Member States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the start of negotiations on a free trade agreement as well as ways to intensify cooperation in general were discussed.​

At a meeting held on February 5, the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council addressed the issue of whether the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Belarus fulfill their obligations within functioning of the Eurasian Economic Union internal market – eliminating restrictions on the export of scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Following a meeting held on February 5 in Almaty (Kazakhstan), the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council instructed the Eurasian Economic Commission, jointly with the Governments of the Eurasian Economic Union Member States, to start addressing the mechanism for applying measures in accordance with Paragraph 1 of Article 40 of the Treaty on the EAEU dated May 29, 2014.

The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council considered a Report on macroeconomic situation in the Eurasian Economic Union States and proposals for ensuring sustainable economic development at its meeting held on February 5. The Eurasian Economic Commission invited countries to drive innovation, develop financial systems and invest in human capital to restore their economies.​
