Issue of tariff setting for gas transportation services in EAEU common gas market to be addressed at SEEC level

4/23/2020
Last outstanding issues of the draft Strategic Directions for Developing the Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025 were considered at an extraordinary meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council held on April 23 via video conferencing. The Intergovernmental Council has adopted the wording on three issues elaborated by members of the EEC Council on April 20 and 22. The remaining issue of tariff setting for gas transportation services in the EAEU common gas market will be addressed at the level of Heads of the Union States.

"The sides’ opinions have been agreed on three issues being very controversial and difficult, but we have reached a consensus. Liberalization of international road transportation is the first issue. Elaboration of flexible mechanisms for targeted assistance to economic development is the second one. Cooperation in healthcare constitutes the third group of issues. The issue of tariff setting for gas transportation services in the Union’s common gas market has been considered several times as well. Unfortunately, were failed to come up with an agreed solution or wording,"
noted Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the EEC Board.

Members of the Intergovernmental Council outlined their opinions on this issue, whereafter it was decided to submit it to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council for consideration. It is planned that the Heads of the Union States will approve the Strategic Directions for Developing the Eurasian Economic Integration until 2025 at the next meeting on May 19.

The next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council (EIC) is scheduled to be held in Minsk in July.
