Chairman of EEC Board congratulated Presidents of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on Nowruz holiday

Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, congratulated Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sadyr Japarov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on the International Nowruz holiday.

 

"This ancient, wonderful spring festival is an important integral part of the rich historical heritage of the peoples of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. May the day of nature's spring renewal serve as an impetus for implementing new large-scale projects for the benefit of your countries," the congratulatory messages note. 

Mikhail Myasnikovich wished the Heads of State good health and well-being as well as peace, welfare and prosperity to the peoples of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.

The International Nowruz Day (Nauryz, Nooruz), translated from Persian as "new day", is celebrated on March 21. This festival celebrates the arrival of spring according to the astronomical solar calendar among the Iranian and Turkic peoples. Nowruz is a national tradition. On September 30, 2009, Nowruz was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and since then, March 21 has been declared the International Nowruz Holiday.​
