The results of statistical activities in
the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) were discussed as well as the plan of
statistical work for 2020 and the period until 2025 agreed with the Member
States was approved at the fifteenth meeting of the Advisory Committee on
Statistics chaired by Sergey Glazyev, Member of the Board – EEC Minister in
charge of Integration and Macroeconomics, held at the Eurasian Economic
Commission (EEC) Headquarters. Besides, a proposal was supported to establish a
working group on measuring the digital economy under the Advisory Committee.
"The current program for developing
integration in the sphere of the EAEU statistics will be completed in
2020," Sergey
Glazyev noted. "Even
today it is important to define major objectives of further joint actions with
the Member States".
The Committee Members approved the draft
Program of the EEC statistical efforts for 2020 as well as agreed on a list of
statistical indicators for developing methods on forming the EAEU official
statistics. Furthermore, some information was provided on the results of
bilateral meetings, held by experts of the Union statistical agencies, on
comparing data on mutual trade in goods in 2019 and a schedule for their
holding next year was adopted.
The meeting participants were presented
with the performance results of the working group on implementing international
standard "System of national accounts, 2008" (2008 SNA). It was
decided to prepare an analytical report on implementing the 2008 SNA in the
Member States and reformatting joint activities in this direction.
During the discussion, the Federal State
Statistics Service (Rosstat) initiated the creation of a working group on
measuring the digital economy under the Advisory Committee on Statistics.
"We strongly support the initiative
of Rosstat," stressed Sergey Glazyev, summing up the meeting. "The
development of unified approaches to statistical assessment of the digital
economy will be a significant contribution to implementing the Union digital
agenda".
The meeting was held in an expanded
format, representatives of the CIS Statistical Committee, the State Statistics
Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, scientists Vasily Simchera, Alexander
Shirov and others as well as qualified experts who made a number of balanced
proposals on improving the statistical accounting system in the EAEU were
invited to participate in the meeting.
The
next meeting of the Advisory Committee will be held in April 2020 in Moscow.
