EAEU to develop international treaty on using navigation seals in transporting goods

7/21/2020
On July 20, the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission instructed the EEC Board, jointly with the Governments of the States of the Eurasian Economic Union, to develop a draft international treaty on using navigation seals in transporting goods across the territories of two or more Union States.

As stressed by Oleg Pankratov, EEC Minister in charge of Customs Cooperation, earlier the Joint Board of the Union Customs Services had prepared a framework draft Agreement on common transit system. Besides, experiments were performed on the use of navigation seals.

"We have received a proposal submitted by the Russian party to make the Treaty more global and include a comprehensive approach to customs transit issues. For our part, we propose primarily to solve the issue of using navigation seals, including not only for customs purposes, and simultaneously to draft such document," Oleg Pankratov noted.

The parties have supported the Board's proposal. The International Treaty on using navigation seals in transporting goods is scheduled to be prepared till October this year.
