EAEU simplified rules for transportation of food and non-food products

5/18/2020

The Eurasian Economic Union simplified the requirements for the transportation of food and non-food products. The Russian Federation canceled the requirements for the separate transportation of such products on the domestic market of the Eurasian "five" countries. This was announced by Gegham Vardanyan, the Minister in charge of Internal Markets, Informatization, Information and Communication Technologies of the EEC.

“We are observing the consistent work of colleagues from the Russian Federation aimed at removing excessive requirements that hindered mutual trade in the EAEU,”
Vardanyan noted.

While monitoring the situation on the domestic market of the EAEU countries, the Department for the functioning of the EEC's internal markets has revealed that the Russian party imposes additional requirements for the transportation of food products, which are subject to the technical regulation of the Union “On Food Safety”.

According to the technical regulation of the Union, the simultaneous transportation of various groups of goods is allowed. However, it is necessary to ensure the conditions that prevent their contact, pollution and changes in the organoleptic properties of food products.

Relevant consultations were held with representatives of departments involved in the regulation of such transportation process.

The Russian sanitary rules have been harmonized with the norms of the EAEU technical regulations.
