Discussion of the draft EEU Treaty was the key topic of the EEC Council's regular session

April 16, in Moscow, the work on the draft Treaty of the Eurasian Economic Union was discussed at the regular session of the Eurasian Economic Commission Council.

The event was attended by Members of the EEC Council - Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus of Foreign Economic Policy within the Eurasian Economic Community, the CU, the SES Sergey Rumas, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov, Chairman of the EEC Board Viktor Khristenko, Members of the Board of the EEC.

The key topic of the session was the work on the draft Treaty of the Eurasian Economic Union, which the Presidents of the Member-States of the Customs Union (CU) and Single Economic State (SES) are to sign in May, 2014. The EEU is to begin its full operation in 2015. Following the results of the session, the EEC Council made major steps in improvement of the EEU draft Treaty chapters dedicated to sectoral areas including energy, industry, transport, agriculture, etc.

Moreover, the session participants discussed the issues of deletions and other limitations including barriers, mutual access of business entities to the market of the CU and SES Member-States; determining import customs duties of the CU Common Customs Tariff regarding some products; progress in implementation of the EEC Council Decision No. 2 dated January 31, 2014, "On the Draft Agreement on a Procedure for Confidential Information Protection and Liability for its Disclosure in Exercising the Eurasian Economic Commission's Authorities regarding Compliance with the Unified Competition Rules."
