EEC Industrial Unit develops action plan for manufacturing medicines for human use

Cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Union Member Countries in the field of medicines circulation was discussed by participants of the online conference within the 5th Annual Forum "BIOTECHMED" held on October 15 in Gelendzhik. The Forum traditionally brings together heads of federal and regional agencies, representatives of large and medium businesses, state development institutions and the scientific community, private investors and entrepreneurs of the Russian Federation.

Tigran Harutyunyan, Deputy Director of the Industrial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, stated the need for joint actions of the Member States to develop the Union’s pharmaceutical market in light of mitigating the coronavirus pandemic consequences. "In this regard, the Commission’s Industrial Unit, jointly with the Union countries, drafts an action plan for manufacturing medicines for human use," the EEC representative noted.

According to the Union countries, the document should include an assessment of current state of the pharmaceutical industry, the availability of raw materials and capacity utilization within the Member States territory as well as other industry indicators.

The activities being conducted by the Industrial Unit will enable assessing the situation with medicinal products in the Union as a whole and following the joint coordinated work of government institutions, scientific and business community they will enable elaborating a system document aimed at deepening industrial cooperation in the EAEU pharmaceutical industry and converging markets for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
