Veronika Nikishina: “Eurasian Week” will bring together a record number of business representatives in 2019”

9/16/2019

On September 16, Veronika Nikishina, Member of the Board - Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), held a press conference at the media center of Eurasian Week’s general media partner, Sputnik news agency, on the eve of the forum.

The event was held in the format of a video bridge Moscow - Bishkek - Yerevan - Chisinau - Nur-Sultan. Veronika Nikishina reminded that the Prime Ministers of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) countries agreed to hold the forum several years ago by signing the corresponding agreement.

The specifics of the “Eurasian Week” are each time selected depending on the peculiarities of the host country’s economy. Since the forum is being held in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2019, an emphasis will be placed on cooperation in the field of agriculture and the agro-industrial complex as a whole.

“The second pool of topics that will accompany all the events of the forum is the fifth anniversary of creating the Eurasian Economic Union, the tenth anniversary of the Customs Union, which became the progenitor of the EAEU, and the 25th anniversary of the very idea of Eurasian integration. As part of the business program, we will hold a discussion about the future of the Union, the successes that we have achieved, and the tasks that, according to the participants, we have to solve”, – reported Veronika Nikishina.

One of the features of “Eurasian Week - 2019” will become a record number of business representatives participating in exhibition and business programs.

“From year to year, the forum helps entrepreneurs from the EAEU not only get to know each other, but also agree on cooperation. This time we have planned events that will help bring suppliers and distribution networks together. About a hundred companies have pre-registered, and, what is encouraging, network requests are correlated with suppliers' offers. The demand for these events is evidenced by the increased share of representatives of the business community: this year it exceeds 85%, whereas only 55% of the participants in the first forum were representatives of business circles”, – emphasized the EEC minister.

Veronika Nikishina also told about the issues that will be raised at the sessions “EAEU: Integration into the Global Market and Opportunities in the Asia-Pacific Markets” and “Main Directions for the Development of the EAEU Trade Policy for 2020–2024”.
