Prospects for cooperation between the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and the Government of India were a prime focus during a working meeting held between Goar Barsegyan, Director of the EEC Integration Development Department, and a delegation from the Embassy of India to the Russian Federation headed by Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, Deputy Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of India to the Russian Federation.

During the negotiations initiated by the Indian side, the sides discussed some ways to enhance India's interaction with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and its Member States.

"Developing trade and economic relations with India meets the interests of all Member States. I am fully supportive of the Indian side's intention to develop interaction with the Union. We are ready to develop cooperation both in a bilateral format - with the Indian Government, and in a multilateral format - between the EAEU and the SCO, of which India is a member," Goar Barsegyan reported.

The Director of Integration Development Department has delivered the Union’s presentation to the representatives of the Indian Embassy. She has told about the current state of the Eurasian integration, focusing on the Strategic Directions for its Development until 2025, and informed about outcomes of the Union's activities on the external track and formats of interaction between the Commission and its international partners. Goar Barsegyan has specially pointed out the largest congress events being held in the EAEU countries and invited the Indian partners to participate in them.

The sides have noted the growing interest of the Member States' and India's business circles in further development of trade and economic cooperation. For this purpose, the EEC and the Embassy of India to Russia are ready to actively involve business representatives of the EAEU and India in joint events.
