EIC Outcomes: Concept of transboundary information cooperation, joint forecasts of agricultural development, supply and demand balance of the Union countries for agricultural products have been approved and a number of agreements have been signed

The implementation of the digital agenda of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), interaction of the Union countries in the spheres of industrial and trade cooperation as well as alcohol market regulation were key discussion topics at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council (EIC) which took place on August 9 in Cholpon-Ata (Kyrgyz Republic).

The Intergovernmental Council has approved the Concept of transboundary information cooperation to ensure internal information cooperation between legal entities (economic entities) of the Union countries and with the authorized authorities of the Member States, approved joint forecasts of agricultural development, demand and supply balances of the Union countries for agricultural and food products, flax fiber, leather raw materials, cotton fiber and wool for 2019-2020, as well as an updated passport of the project “Eurasian network of industrial cooperation, subcontracting and technology transfer”. The Intergovernmental Council Members has signed an Agreement on the transboundary movement of hazardous waste through the customs territory of the EAEU.

In addition, the EIC has instructed the Commission, together with the governments of the Union countries, to analyze the possibilities of harmonizing corporate law to introduce the “Eurasian company” legal form.

The Intergovernmental Council was provided with a report on crediting and distributing import customs duties between the Member States’ budgets.

The Intergovernmental Council’s meeting was attended by Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Sergey Rumas, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Muhammedkaly Abylgaziev, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev and Chairman of the EEC Board Tigran Sargsyan.

In welcoming the Heads of the EAEU countries’ governments at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, Nikol Pashinyan, Chairman of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, stressed: “We attach special importance to creating a common financial market. In particular, the Agreement on harmonizing the legislation of the EAEU States in the sphere of financial market will contribute to the achievement of this goal”. He also noted the importance of further work on eliminating existing barriers in the EAEU.

Tigran Sargsyan, Chairman of the EEC Board, said: “The EEC is taking corresponding measures to form a legal framework for supranational companies. We plan to launch research and development to determine, based on international experience, the framework within which the structures will operate, and what privileges the above-mentioned companies will receive in the EAEU territory. We will work towards expanding and establishing cooperation ties to increase exports”.

Besides, following the EIC meeting, a ceremony of cancelling commemorative postage stamps jointly issued by the Member States’ post offices in honor of the fifth anniversary of the Eurasian Economic Union was held.

The next meeting of the Intergovernmental Council will be held on October 25 in Moscow.
