Outcomes of Eurasian Intergovernmental Council's meeting held on February 05, 2021

The Heads of Government of the Eurasian Economic Union countries considered ten issues at the Intergovernmental Council’s meeting held on February 5 in Almaty (Kazakhstan) in a face-to-face format.

·        Approaches to improving the mechanisms for applying special protective, anti-dumping and countervailing measures in the Union were considered.

·        The Eurasian Economic Commission presented a report on the mechanism for applying response measures in the Union’s customs territory.

·        The ban on scrap and waste of ferrous and non-ferrous metals exported from Kazakhstan and Belarus to the Union States was considered.

·        The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council has approved the Concept for Developing the Electronic Document Flow at the EAEU States’ sea checkpoints.

·        The Eurasian Intergovernmental Council has considered the report on macroeconomic situation in the Eurasian Economic Union Member States and proposals for ensuring sustainable economic development.

·        Procedure for coordinating and providing analytical support for selection and breeding activities in the field of livestock breeding performed in the Eurasian Economic Union States was approved.

·        Heads of Governments of the EAEU countries supported the candidacy of Ruslan Bakytzhanovich Beketayev for the post of Minister in charge of Economy and Financial Policy of the EEC instead of Timur Mekeshevich Zhaksylykov. The candidacy of Beketayev who currently holds the post of Vice-Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be presented to the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

 

The meeting was attended by Askar Mamin, Chairman of the EIC and Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Nikol Pashinyan, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Roman Golovchenko, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Ulukbek Maripov, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, as well as Aureliu Ciocoi, Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Abdulla Aripov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba, Sergey Lebedev, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, and Nikolay Podguzov, Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Development Bank.

 

The next meeting of the Intergovernmental Council will be held on April 23, 2021 in the Russian Federation.​
