On September 4, Tigran Sargsyan, Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Board, and Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of Government of the Russian Federation, met in Moscow.

During the meeting, the sides discussed some issues of interaction and current development of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The Chairman of Russian Government highly appreciated the work of Tigran Sargsyan as Chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Board. He pointed out the reliable and effective organization of the EAEU’s work both at the level of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Board and within the meetings at the level of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

“I want to highlight your special role in organizing this work as Head of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Board. I believe that in recent years we managed to establish absolutely quiet, productive work when no routine matters get considered by the Council of Heads of Governments, and especially by the Council of Heads of States, while at the same time really important issues were submitted thereto, – Dmitry Medvedev said. – The most important thing is that you promote a very relevant agenda for our countries, i.e. the “five countries”. I mean, in particular, the “digital technology”, as all our countries – with varying degrees of intensity – are nevertheless transitioning to the digital economy, are using the digital technology in public administration and provision of social services. And we need to do it all in a coherent manner, in a mode where we speak the same language for all purposes”.

Tigran Sargsyan thanked Dmitry Medvedev for his positive assessment of the results of the Commission's work and noted that systematic meetings within the framework of the EAEU governing bodies’ meetings help see the promising areas in which the Union States can jointly achieve new successes.

“Indeed, the fact that Prime Ministers have the opportunity to discuss all integration issues four times a year helps the Board in promoting the Eurasian agenda. Your initiative, which was supported by other Prime Ministers, was a very wise political decision that helped implement all the fundamental norms laid down in the Treaty on the Eurasian Union. Your personal participation and systematic meetings undoubtedly gave a serious impetus to solving all urgent issues as well as, of course, allow us to find and really see those promising areas where we can jointly achieve new successes”, - the Chairman of the EEC Board emphasized.
