Outcomes of EEC Council

The meeting of the Eurasian Economic Commission's Council held on January 29 decided to postpone enactment of the Union’s Technical Regulation "On requirements for energy efficiency of power consuming devices" (EAEU TR 048/2019)" to September 1, 2022. This initiative was put forward by the Russian side.

The enactment was postponed to grant manufacturers extra time to ensure a smooth transition to requirements of the unified technical regulation. Besides, the decision appreciates the necessity for measures aimed at normalizing the business environment and restoring business activities as restrictions associated with the spreading new coronavirus infection are being gradually removed.

The EEC Council has allowed
the temporary import of certain types of marine vessels used for geological exploration without paying customs duties and taxes.

This initiative was put forward by the Russian Federation.

The EEC Council has extended the validity term of zero import duty charged on aluminum fluoride, used as an electrolyte component in manufacturing aluminum.

The measure will be in effect until December 31, 2023. Furthermore, the issue of zeroing the import customs duty rate in respect of fluorspar has been duly considered.

The relevant amendments to Decision No. 109 of the Commission's Council dated September 20, 2019 are aimed at expanding the market of short-term chartering of foreign vessels for geological exploration in latitudes with a short drilling season and encouraging geological exploration in new regions.
